Reduce

You can reduce the need for plastic trays by being careful about what you buy.

  • Purchase meat directly from the local butcher and ask for no plastic tray
  • Purchase fruit and vegetables that are not packaged on plastic trays

Reuse

Here are a few suggestions on what else you can do with your plastic tray:

  • Reuse as a seedling tray
  • Use as a paint tray
  • Can be cut up and made into 'markers' for labelling seedlings in your garden

Hard plastic trays can be recycled.

  • Do not flatten

Soft plastic trays (meat trays) cannot be recycled.  The next best practical options is disposal to the regional landfill through your local refuse collection service.
