Garden hose on a reel

Garden Hose

A garden hose, hosepipe or simply hose is a flexible tube used to convey water.  There are a number of attachments available for the end of the hose, such as sprayers or sprinklers.  Hoses are usually attached to a hose spig

Here are a few creative suggestions for repurposing your old garden hose. You can:

  • Turn it into a soaker hose, by puncturing it with holes.
  • Use pieces to cover the blades on saws and other cutting tools (simply cut off pieces of the hose, make a slit down one of the sides, and slide over the blade).
  • Create a doorstop.  Cut off a small section of hose and secure it firmly under an open door.
  • Make handles and chains easier to grip.  Slide sections of hose over the metal handle on buckets or metal chains on swings.

If you are unable to reuse your old garden hose the next best practical option is the Landfill, through your local rubbish collection or transfer station.

Where do I dispose of it?
