Corrugated iron is a ferrous metal.  Research indicates that 4 percent of the 31 tonnes per week of metal buried annually in the Southland regional landfill is ferrous metal. 

Ferrous metal can be recycled.

Reuse

Here are a few ideas on what else you can do with roofing iron

  • Build a fence
  • Create a garden sculpture
  • Reuse the good iron sheets for a roof

Recycle

Corrugated iron can be recycled by taking it to your local scrap metal agent or transfer station.  If the iron is in bad condition or rusting it is still accepted at Transfer Stations.
