Waste Free Wanda coming soon

The one-woman interactive musical - Waste Free Wanda - is coming to Southland schools this term. WasteNet Southland is bringing the award-winning singer/songwriter Anna van Riel to Southland during 12-15 October and 9-13 November to perform her interactive stage show to primary aged children.

“The interactive stage show is based on an adolescent kid called Wanda, who discovers she has super powers. I won’t give too much away, but I can tell you the show is a great combination of funny, emotive and musical” said Anna van Riel.

This will be first time the show has been performed in Southland.  “I am really looking forward to bringing the show down to Southland, as I grew up in Invercargill” said Ms van Riel.  “The show has received positive response from the schools who have seen it, and I believe it’s a great way for the kids to learn about waste."

WasteNet Southland Waste Minimisation Officer, Angela Molloy said “We are bringing Anna to Southland, as we believe her interactive musical is a great way to engage with children and share our messages to reduce and reuse.”

“The Waste Free Wanda musical not only educational it is entertaining. I already have a favourite song – couple of cups – which tells the story of disposable cups.”

WasteNet are now taking bookings for performances during 9-13 November.  The 12-15 October shows are sold-out.  Make sure to register your interest, its free, without obligation and ensures your school does not miss out as spaces are limited.
