Worm Farming

Worm farms are great - not only will they turn your food waste into a health soil but they are fabulous tools to educate children about natural ecosystems.

Worm Farming or ‘vermiculture’ is the process of using Tiger worms to digest your food waste.  The worms eat the food and excrete dirt (vermin-cast) and liquid (vermin-liquid) which provide beneficial nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) for the soil, encouraging plant growth.

If you have mostly kitchen waste and live in a home with little or no outdoor space – then a worm farm is the option for you.

Worm farms also:

  • produce valuable soil
  • reduces the need for chemical fertilisers in your garden
  • reduce the space needed for landfills
  • kids enjoy them
