Bin collections continue as normal

Here is what you need to know:

The Councils kerbside recycling and rubbish collection are essential services and will continue as usual at this point in time.  In order to keep providing this service, the Councils are following all Ministry of Health guidelines to ensure that public health is not compromised.

Private waste collection services are also operating as normal.

Here are the steps that you can take during this lockdown period to make sure your kerbside collection is picked up:
  • Wash your hands after you have touched your bin.
  • Where practicable place used tissues, wipes into a separate bag before placing them in your rubbish bin. Do not flush wet wipes.
  • Place your wheelie bin at the kerb at the usual time and collection day.
  • The collectors need to be able to access your bin using the automated technology as much as possible to reduce unneccessary contact.  If parked cars are in the way, place your bin at the end of your driveway.
  • Where practicable do not place you bin/s overnight to reduce the risk of windblown litter.

Thank you to the drivers and team members who are working to make sure that essential services are maintained safely at this time.
