About WasteNet
WasteNet is a shared Council service to work towards zero waste through effective education, waste prevention, minimisation and resource stewardship.
The WasteNet Mission
WasteNet Southland is a joint service between the Invercargill City Council, Southland District Council and Gore District Council, in collaboration with Environment Southland. WasteNet's mission is to provide the co-ordinated delivery of solid waste services within Southland to achieve the region's vision of a sustainable Southland.
Our Functions
WasteNet Southland's functions are to:
- Facilitate the implementation of the Councils' waste management and minimisation plans
- Provide support to organisations to develop their waste management and minimisation initiatives
- Facilitate the local reuse, recovery, recycling, composting and reduction in use of materials
- Gather data and report to the Councils
